This was a bad week for everyone. I don't think anyone was really safe. I did, at least, call the bottom two correctly this week. I enjoyed brooke and she is talented but I think she had run her course. It will be interesting to see if she continues with the music career or if she goes back to her old life. She seems like the kind of person that enjoys music and performing but won't make a career out of it. Let me know what you think about Brooke's future.

Also, is anyone else disappointed in the end of the season? I think there have been some talented people sent home too early and there are several mediocore people that should have been sent home left in the competition. I think this may be another season of a popularity contest. We'll see in a few weeks if the deserving person (David Cook) wins it all.

Let me know your thoughts and opinions. Also, don't forget to watch next Tuesday on WDKY FOX 56 at 8:00pm for another round. Until then...

Lsst night was a disappointment in my opinion. No one did a super outstanding job. By this stage in the competition, everyone should be giving everything they have each week. I don't think the contestants really knew the music or believed what they were singing. It was an average performance and show by all. I hope the weeks leading up to the finale get better. We were seeing a stronger show earlier in the season than we are now. The good ones seem to be disappearing. We'll see how it pans out tonight.

Top 2: David C & David A
Bottom 2: Syesha & Brooke

Watch tonight on FOX 56 at 9 pm to see if your favorite goes home.

Is anyone else surprised? I was, considering the way she performed and the number of times I voted for Carly. She has been in this business for so long, I hope she doesn't get discouraged again and give up on her dream of music. I think after being mentored by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the lightbulb came on for her in her song choices and she would have really turned it on.

Tune into FOX 56 next Tuesday at 8pm for Neil Diamond week. This should be interesting. Until then...

April 23, 2008

Wow! What a night. I love the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. He is truly a brilliant composer. I must confess, I even have a copy of the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. Last night was definatly the night that set the pace for the rest of the season.

Syesha started the night off hot! This is the performance that I have been waiting for all season from her. I think that she must have taken something that a judge said earlier in the season to heart that was wrong. She told Webber last night that AI was not performance theater type show and that she was glad to be a little more animated last night. I think that is what has been lacking in her previous performances. She turned it on last night and was fabulous but is it a little too late to save her?

Jason was not in his element last night. He sounded like he just picked a song and sang it. There wasn't much to it, no feeling. I think he fell short and we'll see him exit soon.

Poor Brooke. I have enjoyed her throughout the competition but I think she may have reached her peak. I felt for her last night as you could tell she was nervous and emotional. I can recall having nerves like that when I would perform in the past and I never sang in front of crowds like she has. With her falters last night, I believe this may be the end of the road for her...on American Idol.

I was rather disappointed in David Archuleta. He can sing and has a passion for music that not many people have but he needs to get into performance mode. We know that he can play the pianot and stand and perform ballads but I would love to see him do some rock or some blues. This is the time to show that you can do it all.

Lastly, what a way to wrap up the night. Carly and David Cook are clearly the front runners in this competition. I'm so glad that Webber steared Carly towards the Jeasus Christ Superstar. This is what Simon has been talking about when he says they are not choosing the right songs for themselves. This song should have been her first choice instead of her second. And David Cook melted my heart last night with his performance. This is my absolute favorite song from Phantom of the Opera. Way to go David C.

Fav 3: David C., Carly and Syesha (although I think David A. has a larger following to keep him safe)
Bottom 3: Brooke, Jason and David A.

Remember to watch the result show tonight on WDKY FOX 56 at 9pm to see if your favs stay or go. Until tomorrow!

April 17, 2008

Well, I had two out of three in the bottom 3 correct. I thought that Kristy Lee did better this week than some of the others. She was improving each week with not only her singing but with her performance as well. She'll be just fine after AI. I know that we will see her again.

I'm still really enjoying American Idol bringing past contestants back to perform on the show. It reminds the contestants and the viewers that great things can happen even if they weren't the top Idol. Sometimes I think it is even better for your career if you don't win American Idol.

Don't forget to go to Americanidol.com and vote for your finale song choice...you have until April 23rd. Also, tune in to WDKY FOX 56 next Tuesday at 8pm for Andrew Loyd Webber week.

Remember that you can sound off with your thoughts and opinions right here on the American Idol Blog too. Let's see if we all agree or disagree. Lastly, if your fav got voted off, you can't complain if you don't vote! Until next week!

Last night the contestants were mentored by Mariah Carey. This was a tough night for the contestants as Mariah is such a powerhouse. I think the girls were at a disadvantage as they were automatically compared and those are some big shoes to fill. The guys did a great job and were the best of the night. They didn't sound like guys singing a girls song...they each gave their song choice their own spin.

Top 3: David C., David A. & Kristy Lee
Bottom 3: Syesha, Carly & Brooke

I have to agree with Scotty on the point that I think Ryan was a little harsh and insensitive in the way that he announced who was going home then even teased us with the thought that he might get to stay. Very uncool Ryan...toying with our emotions like that...very uncool.

As for Simon, he hasn't changed in the 7 seasons of doing Idol. He is usually the negative one and degrades everyone equally. To be honest, I think all of the judges have been harder on the contestants this year than in years past. Maybe that is because we are seeing some of the best talent in awhile.

American Idol definately has drama like a soap opera. Remember the year before when Daughtry got sent home way before he should have...talk about drama. I think there has been drama and controversy every single year. That is what makes American Idol exciting and brings back viewers for more each week and each year. American Idol has brought the music industry some of the best talent that may have never been discovered if it hadn't been for AI.

I do want to correct one thing that Scotty said in his post "The singers help Idol raise over $60 Mil and then kick one off the same night...". They did not kick anyone off during American Idol Gives Back, it happened on the Thursday Results Show. This was a results show that happens each week. The giving part carried over into Thursday but it wasn't the emotional show of Idol Gives Back.

Remember that we can't blame the judges for who goes home each week...we have only ourselves to blame. If you don't vote, then you can't complain.

Do you agree with Scotty? Are you going to stop watching or has it hooked you even more? Post your thoughts and opinions.

Tune in tomorrow night on FOX 56 at 8pm to see your Top 7 perform. Don't leave it up to the rest of America to send your favorite on through to the next round. VOTE!

Scotty from Paris, KY writes: After the farce of Michael Johns getting booted Thursday night and Ryans insensitive comment about last hear no one got booted off I've had. Couple this with Simon's comments to the performers it is obvious this entire program has nothing to do with talent but is a contrieved reality program. Gonna find something else to watch from now on..... Pure Soap Opera. The singers help Idol raise over $60 Mil and then kick one off the same night after throwing a barb in there that he might get to stay. Enough.

April 11, 2008

Wow! I didn't see that one coming. After Tuesday's show, I never expected Michael Johns to be the one that went home. I think everyone else was shocked too.

Tune in next Tuesday on WDKY FOX 56 to see the top 7 compete for your vote. Remember you can't complaine if you don't vote. Until next week...

April 9, 2008

Last night was a flip flop for me. The contestants that I usually don't like seemed to be on their game and the front runners were a little off.

Michael Johns opened the show whith a strong performance. He keeps getting better and better each week. He may be the dark horse that no one is expecting to go very far.

Syesha gave the performance that I have been waiting for out of her. She looked and sounded confident...a true star. She may have saved herself for another week. If she keeps this up, she could go far.

Kristy Lee, although a little off key in places, did a nice job last night. She looked confident and in her element. She may be safe for another week. I hope she keeps up the good work.

Jason did a nice job and has a very unique sound all his own but I just don't think he has the staying power to the end. He still looks very shy and intimidated by the attention.

I was very disappointed in the performance of Carly, David C, Brooke and David A. They were not the usual strong performances that we are used to seeing. I have a feeling it may hurt one of them this week.

Tune in tonight at 7:30 pm for the American Idol Gives Back special then watch on Thursday, April 10th to see if your favorite goes home this week.

Top Three: Michael Johns, Syesha & Kristy Lee
Bottom Three: Carly, Brooke and Jason

April 3, 2008

Then she was gone...
Ramiele was voted off last night after being in the bottom three with Brooke and Kristy Lee. Once again, two out of the three were not suprises. There always seems to be that one person that doesn't belong in the bottom. With Ramiele, I will not deny that could sing, she had a big voice but she never did anything other than sing. People seem to vote for people that they feel they could see in concert...they want a performer.

The competition is getting tighter and tougher. We're going to start seeing some of the favorites go home soon. Make sure you watch WDKY FOX 56 to see your favorites perform. Remember, you can't complain if you don't vote. Until next week!

And then there were 9. I was right about one out of three in the the bottom. I wasn't too suprised that Syesha was in the bottom but I was suprised that Jason was there. I don't think he deserved that yet. I think the thing that hurt this group is they haven't done anything unexpected and the viewers like to see something different each week. We are far enough in the competition that you have to be on it every week. If you have a bad show it could mean the end for you. I think some of those that have been in the bottom three once use that as a warning and turn the next week's performance around.

Kimberly Locke did a great job last night. It's nice to know that there can be success after idol no matter what you want to do with your future.

Tune in next Tuesday from 8-9 pm on WDKY FOX 56 to watch the American Idol stars perform. Remember, you can't complain about the results if you don't vote!

March 26, 2008

Can I start out by asking...What was Paula wearing? It was an awful flashback to the 80s. She obviously didn't have a mirror in her dressing room or a consultant guiding her fashion. But enough about that.

Last night was an overall good show. David C. rocked the house and was a great ending to the show. I believe he will be your next American Idol. He knows how to perform, take risks and make songs his own. I thought last night was Jason's best performance yet. He looked relaxed and confident and not shy like in past shows. Kristy Lee, again, was vocally good but I thought the performance was kind of cheesy. I felt like I was at a dinner theater in Gatlinburg but I think it was more her song choice than the performance itself. Brooke, David A, Michael and Carly did a great job with their songs once again. I was disappointed with Ramiele, Syesha and Chikezie. They all can sing but they are not performing. They seem to have the same show each week (with the exception of the one week for Chikezie). They are very predictable and stale.

Top Three: David C., Brooke & Michael
Bottom Three: Ramiele, Chikezie & Kristy Lee

Tune into WDKY FOX56 from 9-10 pm for the results to see if your choice is staying or going.

March 20, 2008

Your top 10 has been revealed! I wasn't shocked last night by Amanda going home but I was suprised. I really didn't think that she would go for a few more weeks. I was, however, shocked that Carly was in the bottom three. I didn't feel that she deserved to be there. Hopefully she can turn it around next week.

I enjoyed seeing Kelly Pickler last night. She has really grown and come into her own since she was on the show. I'm glad to see that Idol is bringing past contestants back to the show to perform. I enjoy seeing how they are doing and I think it helps to show the current contestants that when you get cut, it doesn't have to be the end.

Tune in next Tuesday from 8-9:30 pm on WDKY FOX 56 to watch the top 10 perform.

LA

March 19, 2008

Well, overall, last night was not as good as the week before but it was still a fun show to watch. Vocally, everyone was pretty decent last night but there are those few that did not bring their best and may be on the verge of going home. I thought that Brooke, Carly, David C. and David A. did a great job but they are becoming a little predictable in their performance. The only one that was a change up was Carly. It was nice to see her softer side. Amanda, Chikezie, Jason and Michael did an OK performance. They weren't anything that stood out to me. I do have to say that I didn't feel that Amanda was as harsh as previous weeks but I would like to see her do something other than rock all the time. Ramiele, Kristy Lee and Syesha were good vocally but that is it. I fear they may be on the way out the door if they don't change.

Top Three: Carly, David C. & David A
Bottom Three: Ramiele, Kristy Lee & Syesha

Tune into WDKY FOX 56 from 9-10 pm for the results and see if I'm right.

March 18, 2008

Yesterday, Simon was on Oprah and when asked who he thought had a chance to win the competition he said David, Brooke and Jason. I agree with two out of the three. I'm not sure that Jason can get over his shyness to become a performer. He has the ability to sing but he is almost awkward in his performances and interviews. Let me know if you agree.

Watch the top 11 perform tonight on WDKY FOX 56 from 8-10 pm.

March 13, 2008

And then there were 11. Do you feel like America made the right decision by sending David Hernandez home? Based on the previous night's performance, I would say yes and that the bottom three was right on. Kristy Lee and David were probably the worst of the bunch but this should be a wake up call for Syesha. She needs to give a memorable performace to keep going. She has the voice, she just needs to pick the song and work it. Well, they will all get a chance to work it out again next week with the Lennon/McCartney songs. We'll see if Chikezie, Brooke and Carly can keep it up again next week and if Kristy Lee and Syesha can step it up to stay out of the bottom three. I'm also anxious to see if Ramiele and David can take the judges comments and come back.

Tune in next Tuesday from 8-10 pm and cast your votes for your favorites. Remember, you can't complain if you don't vote.

LA

March 12, 2008

Last night was a great show. To hear this group sing some of the best music ever written was exciting. There were several that were on their game, then there were some that are good singers but need to step up their performance if they want to be a star. I was most suprised by Chikezie's performance. Talk about someone busting out of their shell...who knew. I also really enjoyed, and have all season, Carly and Brooke. They just seem to have the whole package. I did not like David or Kristy Lee's performance at all. With David, I felt like I was watching a high school talent show and the country style didn't work at all for Kristy Lee. By this stage you need to be much better than that. I'm not real crazy about Amanda. I always feel like Amanda is yelling at me when she sings. All the others just didn't stand out with me this week. They need to step it up to be remembered.

Like - Chikezie & Carly
Not So Much - Kristy Lee & David H.

Tune in tonight on WDKY FOX 56 from 9-10 pm for the results.
